It was a slow fade, gradually over time,
Little choices day by day,
And then suddenly it all began to slip away.
My best intentions,
My greatest chore,
Only led to spiraling more.
What do you do when
the tether frays?
And your only moments
From slipping away.
Everything that you once held dear,
Is gone in an instant,
as you travel towards your greatest fears.
You put on your armor
and you try to fight,
But you realize it’s all just a desperate plight.
It’s time to take action,
It’s time to charge,
But your exhausted
And everything feels too large.
You pull up your bootstraps,
You know that it’s right,
But in reality,
You don’t even want to fight.
You know what you believe,
You know it’s true, but it leaves
You wondering if it’s even for you.
The silence is deafening,
Day by day,
Residing in the depths of darkness
There has to be a better way.
Thoughts are swirling,
Emotions high,
There’s no control
and you wonder why.
You do all the things
that your supposed to do,
Carefully, faithfully but
Maybe it’s not for you.
You’re crushing under the
weight of it all, waiting for the release,
your about to fall.
The pressure builds,
You can barely breathe,
Nothing is as it ever seems.
Just one thing,
to tip the scales,
Maybe you were destined to fail.
You give Satan an inch,
And he takes a mile,
Once you’re too far in,
It’s hard to reconcile.
You gave up your power,
You know it’s true,
Recklessness is controlling you.
You know it’s wrong,
you try to stop,
But it all just feels
like a steaming pot.
Boiling over,
What do you do?
It lets you breathe,
But it’s conquering you.
You’re no longer confident,
It’s scaring you,
It’s all consuming,
And you don’t know what to do.
You built your life on faith alone,
It’s the only thing you’ve ever known.
The doubt creeps in, you know it’s true
but the enemy knows that he’s about to have you.
You look around
but you’ve lost your sight,
You know it’s time for fight or flight.
You choose the battle
in front of you,
You no longer wonder what to do.
It’s time to conquer
your greatest fear,
What you’ve been trying
to avoid for about a year.
It’s the hardest thing
you’ve ever done,
But it keeps you safe
and the enemy hasn’t won.
Your sitting in the
depths of despair,
You realize that Jesus
is already there.
He scoops you up off the floor,
Just waiting for you to open the door.
He heals you up and binds your wounds,
You’re reminded that He’d do anything for you.
Jesus and science the perfect team,
Rest and revival, they overcome me.
The days are brighter, the nights are good,
Things are starting to look like I thought they never would.
Seasons come and seasons go,
There it is a tiny glow.
The light shines through,
The darkness fades.
Here’s the hope of brighter days.
It’s not a journey that I would pick,
but maybe it’s something that Jesus saw fit.
Trials and fires, hardship and pain,
Nothing we walk through is ever in vain.
The journey is long, I know that’s it’s true,
Wherever it leads, Jesus will sustain you.
